Bridgette Louise Starr is a pioneer in Australian football (soccer) history, celebrated as the first indigenous woman footballer to represent Australia at both the World Cup and the Olympic Games. Born in a regional town, Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, Bridgette's journey in the sport began at a young age.
At just 16 years old, Bridgette was named in the Australian Women's Soccer Squad, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. Two years later, in September 1994, she played her first international game, starting a successful career that lasted almost ten years.
Bridgette's achievements are nothing short of remarkable. She competed in numerous international tournaments, including the Oceania World Cup qualifiers and the United States Women's Cup, establishing herself as a formidable defender on the field. Her contributions were pivotal in securing victories for her team, notably scoring her first international goal during the must-win final of the Oceania World Cup qualifiers in October 1998.
In 1999, Bridgette's talent and commitment earned her a coveted spot on the Australian team for the FIFA Women's World Cup, a historic moment in her career. She also represented her country at the Sydney Olympic Games, leaving an everlasting mark on the global stage.

Bridgette lives on the Gold Coast and prefers to be called B these days. She loves spending time with her son Bhodi and watching him explore life and create experiences with him every day.
