It is expected that Reconciliation Australia will review about 2-3 drafts from our Reconciliation Action Plan.

We are aiming to complete the implementation of this plan between April 2024 - April 2025.

There are four types of RAP’s that workplaces can implement which include: Reflect, Innovate, Stretch or Elevate.

One of the several commitments that will be involved with the Reflect RAP includes: building and understanding FCA’s Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander stakeholders and sphere of influence.

There will be an appointment of a Chairman for the RAP working group soon.

The “Reflect” Reconciliation RAP is based on the following framework: relationships, respect, opportunities.

Relationships

Reconciliation involves strengthening relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders by building trust and respect.

Respect

We can develop respect by taking the time to understand and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander cultures, their rights and experiences. When individuals, organisations and sectors embed cultural competence into their everyday business, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people will face less barriers with accessing health, education and employment opportunities.

Opportunities

Equal participation in a range of life opportunities is crucial for the well-being of all peoples, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. There are currently large and unacceptable gaps between Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples and other Australians on all social, health, education and economic indicators. Respectful relationships are required as the basis for tackling this national challenge.
